Amendment 2 Protest

Yes, of course we attended the Amendment 2 Protest Saturday (11/15) in front of Jacksonville's City Hall. We were actually quite pleased with the turn-out and saw a lot of Jacksonville Confidential readers participating as well, good job.

As you are probably aware, 62% of Floridians voted YES on Amendment 2 to essentially "ban" gay marriage. Hundreds (according to some reports) flooded the steps of City Hall to participate in a non-violent protest against the passing. Other protests in California, Arizona, Arkansas, etc. took place on Saturday as well.

You know we snapped tons of pics, here are a few....

What is a protest without a protest protester? This woman (and maybe one other) was posted in the center of Hemming Plaza under a tent drooling out bible verses and scripture about how the gays are sinners and god hates fags and all that good stuff.

Bless her little heart.

I was actually disappointed with the turnout and overall event, and the report of hundreds of people was a little over zealous. who protests a government issue at a government building on a day when no one is in said building? further more it was more of a rally than a protest, as it didn't seem to last long at all.
should i have really expected more from jacksonville, probably not.
