Jacksonville Confidential reader Kevin came upon the sign below in the window of Hayden's Haberdashery the day after Thanksgiving in Avondale and sent some pics over to us. According to some of the other Avondale shopkeepers, the customer who left the note is getting married this weekend and had all the wedding party clothes done at this shop. He has been trying to make contact for weeks, but has been unable to get either the clothes or his money back. Apparently, out of frustration, he put this sign on the front door which has been seen by hundreds of people. The frustrated customer even put the owners home address and phone number on the note!(which we have blurred out). The final picture shows what everyone sees in the store window, the remnants of a party with empty beer bottles for all to see. "Great moments in customer service."

That kind of thing has been going on since the place opened. The owner is a drunk and has/had no idea what he was doing.

I have shopped at HH for years and have had nothing but excellent service from John.

I have first-hand knowledge that the beers were from working all day and night to close the business site, not a party. It is a sad commentary on our society when a retailer has hard times and he gets slammed (recession anyone). Also, there is another side to the sign. And Antoinonymous...no class putting your ex's private numbers on the blog.
The truth behind the sign..it was ONE person!! not a wedding party. The store overly compensated the customer's gift certificate with product(which he accepted)when his suit size was not available, not due to lack of customer service.

I have known both John & his ex wife for many years! Both are great people in their own ways!(his ex having more respect from me than him, when it comes to his kids!) I have know both of them for over ten years and to see someone disrespect his ex wife which is taking care of Johns 4 kids by herself with little help from John must be his misstress or secret lover! His ex is doing everything in her power to make sure that her beautiful children are taken care of! If anyone puts a blog on here about his ex truly must not know her! Wow! Who knew that all this drama was brewing underneath a store that sold "crap". I saw the douche who ran this place cruising into The Fox right before the windows were taped up. Had the look of a beat down mutt. My guess is that we won't see Rico Suave strutting down St. Johns much anymore. I have known both John and his wife since they moved here. Absolutely the two grossest people I ever met. Even though she is a high school drop out who's father is in prison, at least she tries to take care of her kids. He is beyond help - cocaine, booze and whores all funded by his mother.

Please, I must respond to the last two posts... some of us wouldn't be a member of the FYC if were the ONLY club in Jacksonville. They let in skank, whether or not they can pay their monthly bill. In fact, one of the few highlights of visiting the run-down facility, is viewing the 'past due' members that are posted on the wall. Considering how inexpensive it is, compared to the better clubs that do have membership qualifications (all over town) it doesn't surprise me that so many FYC members resign in some sort of shame. The rest of us are just happy that those people have somewhere else to go and not clubs that don't accept 'your kind'.
OMG, cannot believe that people have written so much about soooooo little. That is, people lacking character or moral value!! Don't you all have Christmas shopping to do or children to care for or bars to haunt?????

I think you should leave FYC out of this. It is not a run down club and is a family friendly casual place. Unfortunately, some of the members (and past members) do not respect the rules. If there is one knock on FYC, they do not police themselves very well. They do not enforce the rules and give too many chances to members who they finally do punish.
It is very unfortunate what happened to the customers at HH. The only thing I can say is that it wasn't the first time, however it was definetly the last. It just shows it doesn't matter how much money someone has, you can never buy class.
Rosenblums sells Vineyard Vines ties! I don't know John, but heard that the store used to be very successful when his x-wife ran it and know men who bought a lot of clothes there and spent$$$$$$!! Then I heard the business went under when the cheating girlfriend employee took over and he fired his wife.
FYC is where people who don't belong in a nice club or where people with only enough money to join a haven for wife swapping drunks join. Everybody that isn't from 'somewhere else' knows that. They are so pathetic with their license plates as though being a member is something to be proud of!! Most don't even own a boat...

You are right, Yacht Club is the best and the members know how to really have a good time, that's where I first met the Vukelics & the Massanellis, such fun couples.. I think that Scott & Antoinette would have made a much cuter couple though.
Perhaps 11:35 PM and 3:03 PM would be bold enough to post their names here so the next time "their kind" choose to visit the FYC they could be gently asked to leave?

Antoinette and her family deserve some respect, when some of you people walk on water, you can talk about being perfect. With regard to John, running a business is damn hard, especially these days when people are cutting back on their clothing purchases. As a business person, he should be commended for the length of time he had his store. After all, there are OTHER for RENT signs up and down St. Johns Avenue as well. He ain't the only one having a hard time.
I wish he and his family well and I hope we can see another store like his at a later date. In its hey-day, it was a great store.
The only reason the store stayed open for as long as it did was because John's mom kept pumping money into it. I know she put over 1 million in there to keep it open. John did not have any idea what he was doing from day one. It is hard to fun a store especially when you are drinking miller lite all day.

There was a really nice guy who used to work there, Jackie... nothing bad to say about Hayden's, they always treated us well.
