Beach Road Chicken Dinners is truly a Jacksonville icon. Located at 4132 Atlantic Boulevard (which was known for years as Beach Road) the infamous fried chicken joint has been serving our area since the 1930's and has always provided it's patrons with a consistently delicious table of food. Sure, the place itself could totally use a design overhaul and the air is thick with chicken grease from the moment you walk in, but really it's all part of the allure. Random chicken related pictures and tacky figurines adorn the walls and every nook and cranny as sassy greasy-spoon style waitresses scurry throughout the dining room constantly refilling drinks and reorders of side items.

Served family-style, the chicken is the main draw but some might argue that the very best part of the Beach Road Chicken experience is the sides. Our number one favorite would have to be the cream peas, you also get mashed potatoes, rice, french fries, biscuits, and tons of gravy. Before all that arrives, you are served Beach Roads' signature crunchy coleslaw. We also ordered some onions rings to start out. Why? Cause we are pigs. Take a look at this beautiful bounty of food.

As always, the feast was fantastic, quick, and totally filling. We even walked away with a few pieces of left-over chicken and biscuits for lunch the next day. If you haven't ever been to Beach Road Chicken Dinners or you haven't been in a while, stop in, you won't regret it.

I gotta admit the food is good but the place.... it's being held up by years of grease build up. It's a nasty place!
That's half the fun!
Beach Road rocks some chicken, this place is one of my faves!
What was you guys' bill when you ate there? I am consistently amazed at how I can leave so full I don't eat for 2 days, there's still tons of food left on the table, and the bill is like $26. This place is great.
I remember being a little girl and we went there. My parents ordered all the sides and I really wanted some rice. The waitress winked at me and brought me a little bowl of rice and said, "here sweetie, a bowl just for you." That was 10 years ago and I've loved that place since.
Great Food, good prices and little bowls of rice for a kid....
Don't be hatin' the grease, it's part of the atmosphere. Wouldn't be the same without it.
It is the best place for chicken in the world and yes, the sides are fab.
I'm still mourning the loss of the other Beach Road Chicken that was on Normandy. That had an AYCE bar with everything they make on it - including the chicken fried steaks and the catfish. It was so awesome...
