2009 Big Apple to Big Easy Banger Rally

The 2009 Big Apple to Big Easy (BABE) Banger Rally is a five leg odyssey between New York and New Orleans across the Appalachians. The rally has only one rule – competing vehicles must have been bought for under $500. Two guys from Jacksonville, Simon Keymer and Todd Johnson (accompanied by Abu Dhabi resident Justin Doherty), will be joining in the fun to support local kids charity Daniel.

Keymer, Johnson, and Doherty make up Team Preteen Spirit and will be sporting their gently used new whip, a 1995 Dodge Stratus, that was found on Craigslist and has been modified (at almost no expense), principally to improve its looks. The team is being supported by Simon's public relations agency, The Keymer Group.

Team Preteen Spirit departs Jacksonville this Saturday morning (May 30th) for Sanford to take the auto-train north. The rally departs from Staten Island, NY June 1st and finishes June 5th in New Orleans, LA. The Team that manages to acquire the most points over 5 days of hard driving will get $1500 in cash. The second place team will win $350 and the third place team will win $150. However, the entire team must make it to the end! And that includes the Banger (car)! Good Luck Guys!!! Check out these before and after pics...
