We know many of our readers are landlords throughout town and we've heard plenty of horror stories over the years about dirty, disgusting, and destructive tenants who have no regard for your valuable property. The havoc they cause during their occupancy and the ensuing aftermath has been enough for some people we know to sell their properties and give up on the whole thing. Thanks to the new website Terrible Renters in Jax rental property owners now have a mouthpiece to post and expose those deadbeat squatters.

Terrible Renters in Jax posts the names of offending occupiers as well as stories about the owners horrific experiences, COMPLETE WITH PICTURES!!! It never ceases to amaze us how truly disgusting and gross people can be. Friendship Fountain Re-Opens

This Saturday, June 18th, at 9am the newly refurbished Friendship Fountain on the South bank Riverwalk re-opens. According to this story from News4Jax...

"The fountain now shoots 110 feet into the air. It's the first part of major redevelopment on the Southbank."

It's a gusher!! There's also a "patriotic light show" to feature the fountain.

We remember many a sunny day sitting on the steps of the park and watching the fountain for, what seemed like, hours. It's great to have you back Friendship Fountain.

The Deadbeats Short Film Premier

The Deadbeats is a new short film by Jacksonville University alumni Ross Howard and filmmaker Jeremy Tidwell, it will be premiering this Friday, May 13th, at 9pm at the 5 Points Theatre. Immediately following the film the bands Ghost Horse and After the Bomb Baby will be having a special performance. Tickets are $6.50 and can be purchased online at the theatre website.

Directed by Ross Howard and written by Jeremy Tidwell, Ross Howard, and David Howard, The Deadbeats was shot entirely in Jacksonville, FL with the main location being the 5 Points Theatre; where the story of the film itself takes place. The film focuses on brother and sister Silas and Liz Carpenter, along with their two friends Dean and Analog who form the foursome in "The Deadbeats", an original, adventure thriller. Based off the friendship itself, which inspired the film and those who wrote and collaborated this work, "The Deadbeats" friendship is what keeps them going strong through their journey to save the family's theater. In a last ditch effort to save the theatre, the group obtains a cult horror film that has not been seen since the night it first premiered and is rumored to be cursed. Little do the friends know that monsters themselves are soon to come alive when they go to preview the cursed film.

The concept for the film came from movies like The Goonies, The Monster Squad, and Night of the Creeps, and admiration of their upbeat, uncanny, and, courageous journeys. This short film, with a running time of twenty minutes in length, is being used to showcase the movie’s concept for a feature film (to be shot entirely in Jacksonville) to potential investors. The producers are currently looking to secure the financing for a feature length version of the film.

Jason, Robyn and David checked out the brand new Mojo No.4 Urban BBQ and Whisky Bar last night in Avondale and had a fantastic time. The space has been totally renovated and includes a very large FULL bar along with some very nice outdoor seating. They noshed on some ribs, a pulled pork sandwich, and barbecue shrimp. We’re back from Spring Break and, Whoa!, you guys have been seeing a lot of accidental dongs around town in the past week or so. Check out these submissions from Mark, Tom, and Sandra.

Mark spotted your basic, garden-variety, ”rubber band dong”. Sure, there’s at least one in every bag but the funny part is that he found this one in the parking lot at the Jacksonville Hotel AKA the JAIL. He’s there quite often.

This past weekend our very own Robyn hosted a Murder Mystery Birthday Party for Jacksonville Confidential’s founder Jason at her house using a kit from the Night of Mystery Website, called ”Murder in Margaritaland”. It was a complete success and one of the best times EVER. Oh how we love a theme party and this one was full of extravagant costumes (Julio), extreme over acting (Megan), money hungry honey-mooning grifters (Matt and Erin), Japanese ninja tattoo artists (Mark), sports and movie stars and their agents (Amy, Hank, Jason W., and Jeremy), island resort staff (Jason I., Robyn, David, Becky, Johnny, Brett, Stephanie, and Tom), lottery winners and rich folk (Joe and Rom), and a totally hot, shirtless, life guard (James). Once the game was complete, the party moved to Wall Street in 5 Points where the debauchery continued and this ensued…

A teenager in St. Petersburg was saved from an alligator attack by his droopy drawers according to this article from an Orlando news agency.

Kendrick Williams said he was walking home from work through a St. Petersburg apartment complex on Tuesday when an alligator took a bite of his pants.
"I heard the hiss and then I looked down, and I seen the alligator on the ground," Williams said.
"And what did you do?" a reporter asked."I ran," he said.
"And what did the alligator do?" the reporter asked.
"I don't know. I didn't look back," Williams said.
"But it looks like it snapped," the reporter said.
"Yeah, it tried to bite me," Williams said.
Williams' mother said she's thankful that her son is OK.
"That was the advantage of wearing baggy pants that day," she said.

Gottfried tweeted: "Japan is really advanced. They don't go to the beach. The beach comes to them." He also posted: "I just split up with my girlfriend, but like the Japanese say, 'They'll be another one floating by any minute now." Pretty funny stuff, but Aflac sure doesn’t think so…

RAM Re-Opens This Weekend

The Riverside Arts Market (RAM) is having its Grand Reopening this Saturday March 5, 2011. The season kicks off with the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the brand new, two hundred foot RAM boat dock. The ceremony will begin promptly at 10:15 AM. Jacksonville’s own Mayor John Peyton will arrive via water taxi to cut the ceremonial ribbon (swanky).

Boaters are encouraged to arrive with decorated boats, banners and signs at the dock by 10:15 to participate in the festivities. Stanton College Preparatory School’s highly talented drum line will entertain the crowd on the Riverwalk throughout event.

Located beneath the Fuller Warren Bridge in Riverside RAM features hundreds of artists, musical entertainers, street performers and fresh produce and food vendors. RAM will remain open from 10:00AM to 4:00PM every Saturday until the close of the 2011 season.

“Although this is only our third year in operation the Riverside Arts Market has quickly become a Jacksonville, as well as a regional, favorite. The support of the community for RAM shows how much our community cares about the culture of our amazing city,” said Executive Director of RAM Teri Coutu, “the new boat dock is just one more example of RAM’s impressive growth and how it is evolving into a vital hub in our city.”

This 2011 season of RAM will showcase new and returning artists, musicians, street performers and vendors. RAM’s River Stage will feature local and regional entertainers throughout market hours. A leading US psychologist has patented a bra for the bum, which according to her, restores pertness to sagging buttocks. Creator Karin Hart claims that the garment, featuring straps worn around the waist and under the buttocks, instantly shapes and adds tone to the rear. Hart said that she came up with the buttock-clenching idea after realizing that her own bottom wasn't as pert as it used to be.
"The Biniki buttocks support idea came to me at a moment of personal need. One look in the mirror after some rapid weight loss showed me the unhappy truth, my bottom was sagging," the Daily Telegraph quoted her, as saying.
Dr Hart started developing designs for a wearable item that would do the same job as a surgical bottom lift. "Trying to find a design led me to buy some self-adhesive tape. Accidental Dong

The ~~Accidental~~ Intentional Dong below is actually no accident at all. The humongous pecker graffiti seen below is from a St. Petersburg bridge and was entered into an art competition, it was on the “shortlist” (it looks pretty long to us) but has since been dropped from the contest. Here’s the full story from Metro (UK) -

The graffiti was painted by opposition Russian art group Voina in June last year to protest against tight security in the city. Organisers of the prize for innovation, awarded by Russia’s State Centre of Contemporary Arts, had included the picture, which Voina called A Penis In KGB Captivity, on its shortlist. However, after failing to get Voina’s approval to include the picture, organisers decided to remove it. The painting, which pointed skywards when the bridge was raised, was eventually washed off by firefighters. It had originally faced the St Petersburg headquarters of Russia’s Federal Security Service. Voina has condemned the decision to withdraw the painting from the competition’s shortlist.
Activist Alexei Plutser-Sarno said at the weekend: ‘The repressive act of removing the Voina group from the award brings shame on the (organisers) and the Ministry of Culture.’ The group has been involved in a number of protests in recent months, including tipping over eight police cars in one night in St Petersburg and staging an orgy in Moscow’s Biological Museum.”

The first picture below is the old Nutmobile that has been around for many many years and is in much need of a revamp. The higher powers at Planters heard the call and are issuing Mr. P a 2011 Isuzu NPR diesel truck. Inside of the crunchy shell, it's been outfitted with five percent biodiesel, a row of solar panels and a wind turbine, not to mention a bank of batteries. Unfortunately, Mr. Peanut will be murdering a few of his own just to get down the street, with "a small amount" of peanut oil being mixed in with a number of other vegetable and cooking oils. According to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, 34-year-old Traci Batcher was at the Thirsty Turtle (a VERY classy joint from the looks of this picture) when she went into the men's restroom and took off all her clothes. She then tried to walk back into the main bar area when the manager stopped her and told her to put her clothes back on. When she refused, the manager called 9-1-1.

A responding deputy found Batcher locked in the men's room. When the manager unlocked the door, she came out topless. After repeatedly asking Traci to put her damn clothes back on she told the deputy, "You don't understand, I have been married since I was 13 years old and have been married for 16 years."

The people voted YES ---68%! This was a plus for the campaign but there is still an issue that needs to be addressed. One of the opponents that Kim is running against is currently being investigated by The Florida Bar for four serious charges to include forgery and fraud. Also on Monday, The Florida Bar referred his case to the Supreme Court for all four charges.

All of the votes are in and they have all been tallied for Movies in the Park at Treaty Oak in San Marco on the South Bank. The winners are -

Movies in the Park at Treaty Oak is a free, four-week-long movie series, held each spring at the historic Treaty Oak Park on Downtown’s Southbank. Enjoy family-friendly movies under the stars on the same land where numerous silent movies were once filmed.

Beach Blankets and camp chairs set the scene at Treaty Oak Park on the Southbank. Attendees are encouraged to BYOB - bring your own picnic baskets, packed with tasty treats, or a hot meal "to go" from one of the many Downtown restaurants. Vendors will also be onsite selling concessions. Well-behaved pets are welcome, alcoholic beverages are not.

Radiohead "The King of Limbs"

One of our favorite bands, Radiohead, is releasing its new album "The King of Limbs” this coming weekend (Saturday, February 19) in a digital version available online for the low cost of $9 for an MP3. A deluxe edition the band is calling a "newspaper album" will be shipped to customers on May 9. It comes with two vinyl records, a CD and artwork, at a cost of $48. We like this vinyl revival that’s been going on as of late.

Certainly you are all already aware by now that Steve Carell is leaving The Office this season, actually a few episodes before the season finale, and according to this article from TvLine Will Arnett may be taking his place. This sure is a lot more plausible that earlier rumors of Harvey Keitel and might be a prefect fit.

The Fuxedo

Jon Murray and Andy Stuckey are complete geniuses. The two inventors have been working on a project for many years called the Fuxedo. The Fuxedo is a one piece, full body suit, tuxedo built like coveralls. You just step into the pants, and then zip up the front. The cummerbund, jacket, and bow tie are all attached. Now this totally sweet invention is available to the general public for a staggeringly cheap cost of $299 (as opposed to the price of an actual tuxedo). Looks pretty good, check it out.
